 Dolmela , baran Dolmela : Dolmela is celebrated at the Dol Talab (Pond) in baran City. Starting from the holy occasion of Jaljhulni Akadshi, the fair lasts 15 days. It is considered to be one of the major fairs in Rajasthan. The main attraction of the mela is a large Shobha Yatra (procession) which feature about 54 Dev Vimans (holy statue carriages) also known as Dol, of all the major temples of the city. A number of Akhadas (gyms) also display their Kartab (physical prowess) in this procession. The procession starts from the Shreeji temple and concludes at the Dol Talab where all the Dev Vimans are worshipped. The deities are later returned to their respective temples. This fair, a major social event irrespective of socio-religious differences, is a symbol of communal harmony in the area.


Sita Bari Fair : The Sitabari Fair is held near village Kelwara in baran District. Sitabari is measured to be the place where Sita, the wife of Lord Ram, was left by Lakshman to serve the period of her banishment. Legend has it that a stream sprouted from the ground where Lakshman shot an arrow to fetch water for Sita. This stream is called 'Lakshman Babhuka'. People from all communities visit Sitabari to bathe in the tanks (kunds), which are always filled with clean, fresh water. The water of the 'kunds' is considered to be sacred and is believed to possess curative properties.  Sita Bari Fair , baran People visit the 'kunds' to take a holy dip for the purification of the body and soul and to perform oblations dedicated to the various deities whose images are installed here. The biggest water tank is the Lakshman Kund with one of its gates called 'Lakshman Darwaza' where an idol of Hanuman is installed. People bathe here and pay homage to the idol of Lakshman, erected beside the 'kund'. The pilgrims also pay respects to the wooden platform called 'Lakshman-Ka-Takhat' and the Tulsi plant in the shrine. The Suraj Kund is surrounded by verandahs on all sides. Ashes of cremated people are immersed in the water flowing out of the 'kund' by those who cannot go to the Ganges for this ritual. Washing clothes or using soap is not allowed in it. This kund is named after the Sun God - Suraj Narain whose idol can be seen here. In one corner of the kund, the 'Linga' of Mahadevji is placed. The other two kunds are the Sita Kund and the Bharat Kund. People offer cash, grain, 'Batashas', jaggery, coconut etc. to the deities as a token of their devotion. Pilgrims also visit the Valmiki Ashram where, according to the Ramayana, the twin sons of Ram and Sita, Luv and Kush were born. It is a simple structure of one horizontal stone resting on two vertical stones.



 Brahmani Mataji Mela , baran Brahmani Mataji Mela : Brahmani Mataji Mela is held at the old fort near Sorsan, about 20 km from baran, in Rajasthan. It is organized during the Hindu month of Magh Shukla Saptami (January-February) and is the only donkey fair in the whole Handoti Region. A large number of animals are brought here for buying and selling.





Piplod Christmas Fair
Piplod Christmas Fair is celebrated in the church at Piplod Village in Atru Taluka of baran District. It is organized on 25th December. The fair is a classic example of the communal harmony, with Hindus and Muslims participating in the fair. This fair is organised in the only Church of the baran district in the village Piplod in Atru tehsil. This fair is organised on 25th December every year. Though this fair is organised near Church but local Hindu-Muslim also participate in the fair.


Phuldol Folk Festival
This is the one of the oldest folk festival of the Rajasthan state. This festival is organised every year in the Kishanganj town on the occasion of Holi festival. The local resident of the town started this festival by the marriage ceremony of the Tulsi in their home with the statue of God Charbhujaji about 116 years ago. It is the tradition in the families that the groom comes to the in-laws home with their friends to play Holi. This tradition is followed by the God Charbhujaji and all the residents of Kishanganj town. On the day of Holi-Dulandi, lots of Swang(type of drama) is being played in all the town. Some of the famous swangs are Gidh-Rawan-Yudh, Band-Bandi swang etc. This festival runs all the day upto late in the night. Lots of people from nearby places come to witness the festival.

Urs - Balakhera
About 33 Km. from baran, there is a small village Balakhera, where Urs is being celebrated for last 33 years. It is interesting to note that this Urs was initiated by a Hindu Brahman family. Even today the flag of the Urs is taken out from the house of the descendant of this family.
