This is the most famous sweet of the state of Rajasthan. Famous after it's originating place alwar this has become commonly known as alwar's Kalakand.
This sweet is so renowned for its excellent taste that even a street is named after this particular dish. One of the interesting facts about this dish is that it uses meat as one of its ingredients.
Flanked with a large number of small and large sized shops, Kalakand Market provides finest handicrafts and Jewellery items. It is interesting to note that on Tuesdays all the shops in the market would be closed.
A large expansion is covered under the area as market, which is popularly called by different names like Sarafa Bazar, Bazaza Bazar, Hope Circus, Kedalgunj Bazar and Malakhera Bazar.

The place is famous for the Bala Fort also known as alwar Fort. The walls of this fort stretch as far away as 5 kilometers. This fort was supposed to have been built even before the rise of the Mughal Empire. Another famous tourist attraction is the City Palace or Vinay Vilas Mahal. The Palace was built in the 18th century and is an imposing structure that symbolizes Mughal architecture.

One of the famous alwar excursions is the Siliserh Lake. The lake spreads over an area of approximately 10.5 sq. km. Located almost 12 km to the southwest of the city of alwar, this lake offers peace and serenity to its visitors. Siliserh Lake is surrounded by low hills and thick forest. On the banks of the lake are some royal cenotaphs. In the year 1845, Maharaja Vinay Singh built a palace (hunting lodge) for his Queen Shila near the lake. Now transformed into a tourist bungalow, it still serves as a delightful tourist spot.
